This article is about the first track of the first OST. For other uses of this name, see Attack on Titan (Disambiguation).

ətˈæk 0N tάɪtn is the 1st track on the "Attack on Titan" Original Soundtrack, written by Rie and sung by Mika Kobayashi. As with all the other pre-The Final Season OSTs, it is composed and arranged by Hiroyuki Sawano.

Title

The title is an approximate phonetical transcription of "Attack on Titan".

Musical motifs

The track has several remixes:

XL-TT could arguably be considered a remix too. ətˈæk 0N tάɪtn's choral chant (1:01-1:32), ostinato (2:57-3:27) and ending (3:27-3:58) all appear in XL-TT, at similar points in the track (choral chant at 1:13-2:09, the ostinato at 3:26-4:08 and the ending at 5:22-6:04). The main difference is that it does not feature the chorus, and has a unique section at 2:09-2:38.

Additionally, the chorus at 2:24-2:57 is a motif used independently in 2 other tracks:

Lyrics

The earth roars and turns red
The people remember this tragedy

Is this the destroyer or the creator?
With the flame of hatred we swing the swords
Is that our fate or our will?
We will fight until this hot wind takes our wings away

What are we finding beyond this horizon?
