Overview
Eren tries to make a strong impression on his commandant.
Summary
Commandant Keith interrogates the cadets for their introductions during debut day. Eren, excited for his turn, is aiming to stand out from the rest of his fellow cadets. He hears Armin mention his hobby to the commandant and wonders if he should do the same, before realizing that he does not have one.
Jean admires Mikasa
When it is Mikasa's turn, she is admired by another cadet, Jean Kirschtein, who is mesmerized by her long, black hair, and starts fantasizing about her serving meat dishes when she tells the commandant that her specialty is carving it. Reaching his turn, Jean introduces himself and says that he likes long, black hair, then glances at Mikasa. He is met by a headbutt from the commandant for looking away from him.
Eren's turn is approaching, and he starts practicing his introduction. However, the commandant skips Eren, then tells him that he cannot think of anything abusive to say to him. A snickering Jean clashes with Eren, and they start quarreling, before a Titan suddenly appears and swallows them both, along with Armin. Inside its stomach, Jean blames Eren for not being able to escape in time, with Armin also blaming Eren for being dragged into their mess.
