FUNimation Entertainment is a North American anime company founded in 1994 by the Japanese-American entrepreneur Gen Fukunaga. It is the largest distributor of anime, and has the license for the Attack on Titan anime.
FUNimation was founded by Gen Fukunaga and his wife Cindy on May 9, 1994. Daniel Cocanougher and his family funded the company, who eventually became investors later on. On May 11, 2005, the company had been renamed as "FUNimation Entertainment". Within its early years, FUNimation would work with other entertainment companies to distribute franchises, such as Aniplex and Sentai Filmworks. In April 2011, it was sold to a group of investors by Navarre for 24 million and at around the same time, dropped its signature ball, star, and blue bar on its logo. As well, its name had been changed to simply, "FUNimation".
