Zofia (ゾフィア Zofia?) was an Eldian Warrior candidate (戦士候補生 Senshi Kōho-sei?) working for the Marley government. Before her death, she was a candidate to inherit the Armored Titan power.[2]
Appearance
Zofia was a girl of medium height with a slim build. She had an oval face of fair complexion, deep-set blue eyes, a Greek nose, and blonde hair tied into a ponytail with bangs hanging over the forehead. She also often held a serious expression on her face. Like her fellow Warrior candidates, Zofia wore the standard Marleyan soldier uniform consisting of a light jacket and pants, supply packs on the hip, suspender straps, a hard hat with a stripe around it, and high dark combat boots. As an Eldian, her uniform was different from that of the Marleyans, as her shirt collar has a small badge with the Eldian star instead of a small clip and her hat has a white stripe with the Eldian star on it instead of a pure black stripe. As is law in Marley, Zofia also wore the Eldian armband as all her family and ancestors residing there do as well.
Personality
Zofia was not easily startled, showing little reaction to most things and often handling the less desirable situations with sarcasm. While she was not generally fearful or overly friendly, she did care for her comrades as she cleaned the wounds of fellow candidate Falco Grice when he came back injured and delirious from battle.
When her comrade Udo began to panic at the thought of their military failing, Zofia only laughed as he loses his cool and wraps Falco's bandage too tight. During the discussion of qualifications for the candidacy of the Armored Titan power, Zofia boasted about her superiority in grades against Gabi Braun, showing confidence.[3]
Story
Marley arc

Zofia and her fellow Warrior candidates participate in the Marley Mid-East War. When Falco Grice is brought back to the hiding trench by his brother Colt Grice, Zofia and the other Warrior candidates rush to his aid and begin treating his injuries and bandaging his wounds.[4]
After the battle, Zofia and the rest of the candidates are seen in Fort Slava's harbor, watching as Mid-East soldiers are placed on ships to return to their home countries. She is later seen at the party being held in Gabi's honor.[5] Upon arriving home at Liberio, Zofia reunites with her family.[6]
When the Warriors and Warrior candidates are summoned to their headquarters, Zofia joins Udo in complaining at how little time they had to rest after the battle at Fort Slava.[7]

Zofia congratulates Falco after the latter beats Gabi Braun at racing. Later, she watches the preparations for the festival with Gabi and Udo. Gabi chokes Zofia, upset at her for cheering for Falco, and Zofia calls her a devil.[8]
Along with her friends, she works as a waitress at the party for the ambassadors who came to Liberio. The following day, she is seen enjoying the festival with her friends and Reiner Braun, and then joins the other Warriors to attend Willy Tybur's speech.[9] She, along with her fellow Warrior candidates are stunned when Willy reveals the truth about the Great Titan War having been put to an end by the 145th King, Karl Fritz.[10]
When Eren Yeager suddenly transforms into the Attack Titan behind the stage, and destroys the building he was currently hiding in, debris is hurled into the audience. A boulder smashes into Zofia and crushes most of her body, with only her legs sticking out from underneath the boulder.[11]
Relationships
- Falco Grice - As a fellow Warrior candidate for the Armored Titan power, Zofia shared a unique bond with Falco, as she did all her other candidates. While she was not overly sympathetic, she did care enough to help treat his wounds when he was brought back from battle injured.[12]
- Gabi Braun - Another fellow candidate, Zofia and Gabi worked closely in the battlefield and both tended to the wounds of Falco.[12] Zofia showed little concern or worry for Gabi's safety when she risked her life to take out the anti-Titan artillery,[13] and she boasted to Gabi about her superior grades, being the only one among their circle to challenge whether or not Gabi was the most outstanding candidate among them.[14] Gabi was also distraught at Zofia being crushed to death by a boulder and left speechless at the sight of her dead friend.[11]
- Udo - As candidates, they worked well together in the midst of war, but showed very little interaction with one another as Zofia was not extremely chatty. She found amusement rather than anger in Udo's panic about potential failure[12] and seemed to see him as a bit of a nervous wreck and a fool, but showed no blatant disrespect toward him.
Trivia
- Sketches of Zofia included in the Attack on Titan: Final Manga Exhibition revealed that Zofia was planned to have the full name Zofia Reitsch (ゾフィア・ライチュ Zofia Raichu?).
- Reitsch is the name of the female German aviator and test pilot, Hanna Reitsch.
- She shares a birthday with Luke Siss.[15]
