Mod was a character appearing in Fee Fie Foh, the eleventh short story of Attack on Titan Anthology.

Appearance

Mod had ginger hair and green eyes. He was well-built and wore gray clothes with brown shoes.

Personality

Mod appeared to be very proud of his status as the chief and hero of his tribe. He was also very confidant about his skills as a warrior and was initially very skeptical about the rituals done when Titans were killed, which he called ridiculous. The chief also appears to be impatient and selfish, as he demanded the druidess to give him his reward and did not appeared to do much at home, his pregnant lover Greti having to do a lot without his help.

After the attack on his village, which led to the death of Greti and the inhabitants to be scattered and wandering in the woods, he became ready to do everything to fix his mistakes.

Story

Mod is praised for his archery skills

Mod was the chief of the Dover tribe and regarded as a hero by his fellow villagers. One day, he was with warriors of the tribe doing their duty, which is to kill the Titans that reach the cliffs. One of the warriors, Grum, tried to remind him about the importance of the rituals. Mod let them do despite his obvious lack of interest in such things. Mod fires an arrow and managed to kill the eleven Titans which were gathered below.

Mod sacrifices his life to fix his mistakes and save his tribe

He showed annoyance as the druidess asks about the rituals and dryly asked to get his reward, some devine. Once he got it, he did not thanked the druidess and headed back to his home. Once arrived, he ignored the pleas of his lover, Greti, who was with child and asking him to talk because he did not do much to help at home. To this he showed no interest and drank the devine before taking a nap. When a Titan attacked the village, he was still under the influence of the devine and was a simple bystander. Thus when he was tasked to shoot a flammed arrow to blow up the Titan, he failed and reacted as if it was some unimportant clumsiness. Afterwards, the remaining inhabitants, included himself, had to wander in the woods, no longer admiring their chief. Somehow, he lost memories of those events.

A week later, Mod awoke at night atop the spot where his tribe kills Titans. He saw the druidess, who made him remember of what he did and made her point about Mod's despise about the rituals and traditions, as it is his lack of belief that led to several deaths and villagers having to run away. Acknowledging all of his mistakes, Mod begged the druidess to tell him what to do to fix it. Ready to make amend and kill the Titan that destroyd his village, he drank the divine the druidess gave him. He managed to be caught by the Titan and, following the druidess' statement about Titans nature, talked to it as if it was a crying baby and did not feel any pain as he was being eaten. This was a success, as the Titan blew up afterwards.

• Mod's nickname, Jack-in-the-green, is a reference to "Jack and the Beanstalk".
