Appearance
Samuel was a young man of average build and height, with dark brown hair and silver-colored eyes. His complexion was slightly tanned, and his hair was parted in the centre with bangs and faint sideburns. He wore the typical uniform of the 104th Cadet Corps with a light green shirt underneath.
Personality
Little is known about Samuel's personality. He appeared to had been a fairly normal young man, concerned for the well-being of his friends and eager to join in celebrations.
Story
Humanity's Comeback arc
Samuel is introduced as a member of the 104th Cadet Corps, being put through the traditional hazing of new recruits. When interrogated by Keith Sadies, he identifies himself as being from Snate, and was mocked for having a stupid name.[1]
The Struggle for Trost arc
Samuel's reaction to Sasha stealing meat
After the graduation of the 104th Cadet Corps, he is assigned to the same team as Eren Jaeger and is sent to clean the cannons mounted along to the top of Wall Rose in Trost District. The group discuss which branch they intended to join, and Sasha Braus reveals that she had stolen meat from the officers' rations. The group panic at this fact, fearing the harsh punishment if they accepted her offer. However, the idea of reclaiming Wall Maria and having plentiful farmland again excite the group enough for Samuel to speak up and request a small portion of Sasha's stolen meat along with the rest of the cadets.[2]
Samuel is blown off the Wall
Hopeful of the future, the group return to cleaning and repairing the cannons only to be stopped by the sudden appearance of the Colossal Titan. Taken by surprise, the entire group are blown from the Wall by a powerful wave of steam. The others manage to secure themselves along the Wall without incident, but Samuel is knocked unconscious by flying debris. Sasha rushes down the Wall to his rescue, catching him by launching one of her omni-directional mobility gear hooks into his lower calf and then anchoring herself back to the Wall with her other hook.[2]

- His name could be a reference to the American actor Samuel L. Jackson.
- Though his death is not portrayed in the Attack on Titan anime, it is confirmed in the Attack on Titan Character Encyclopedia.[3]
