Hello everyone!

I'd like to publicly adress a certain issue that has, in my opinion, become quite alarming. As things stand right now, most of the information in the articles of our wiki are not referenced.

I think I don't need to explain that this is a major issue given the nature of wikia itself, we simply need to make sure that it doesn't look like we pulled stuff out of our asses, and so, it should be noted where the information we add into our articles comes from.

So from now on, please use the referencing system whenever adding stuff into articles. If an information is added into an article without reference, the contributor should be notified and if no reference is added (by anyone), it's at risk of getting removed.

That, however, brings us to the original problem - a lot of content already in the articles isn't referenced. So what I had in mind was some kind of a team of active users that'd deal with this, not only that, they'd also be in charge of updating and expanding articles as they are needed. If anyone is interested, please say so in the comments. This isn't something that I or anyone can do alone; but together, we shall prevail! (yay cliches) For this, one should have a good knowledge of the English language and of course, the SnK series.

Finally, here is a guide for referencing, taken from FT Wikia and edited for our use.

  • References should be from the manga, unless it's something that happened in the anime only; in that case, reference the anime episode it's from.
  • If you are referencing a manga chapter or an anime episode, there is no need to describe your references. Simply put the reference, and the reader can go to the chapter or episode themselves.
  • Everything must be referenced. This includes their Arcs, their history and Abilities section, trivia, quotes, etc. Please see here for an example.
  • Exceptions to Referencing:
  • The apperance section is exempt from referencing if it is just describing the apperance. For example, if it states Eren has brown hair, but if it says something like Mikasa wears a scarf that she recieved from Eren, then it needs to be referenced.
  • Do not just put the chapter for a reference, put the page it happened on as well. (Personally, I don't mind the references being -just- chapter numbers, but including pages as well is preferred. Do note that only the actual pages of the chapters count, i.e. do not consider pages that are added by the scanslators and have nothing to do with the chapter (fanarts, etc.))
  • Once a page has at least 9 references, a small scroll box must be added to the references. This is done so the references don't take up too much space on the page. It can be done like this:
==References==
{{Scroll box
| content =
<small>
<references/>
</small>
}}
  • The References should be in this style:
For Manga References: <ref>Shingeki no Kyojin Manga: Chapter 1, Pages 1-2</ref>
For Anime References: <ref>Shingeki no Kyojin Anime: Episode 1</ref>

Note: Some things on the same page will have the exact same reference in that case use this format.

For Duplicate Anime References: <ref name="Episode 25">Shingeki no Kyojin Anime: Episode 25</ref>
For Duplicate Manga References: <ref name="Chapter 45, Page 4">Shingeki no Kyojin Manga: Chapter 45, Page 4</ref>
  • If you use the duplicate manga reference, the two or more things being referenced must have the exact same chapter and page.
  • Also, once you place the initial Duplicate Reference:
    <ref name="Episode 25">Shingeki no Kyojin Anime: Episode 25</ref>
    The next Duplicate References can just be
    <ref name="Episode 25"/>.

This shall be later updated into the guidebook. Any questions? Do ask!

Thanks~
