Zofia (ゾフィア Zofia?) was an Eldian Warrior candidate (戦士候補生 Senshi Kōho-sei?, also translated as "Warrior Cadet") working for the Marley government and was a candidate to inherit the Armored Titan power.[2]
Appearance
Zofia was an average built girl and did not have an extremely feminine air to her. She kept her straight light hair cropped short with shaggy bangs in the front and often held a serious expression.
She had light colored eyes and like her fellow Warrior candidates, Zofia wore the standard Marleyan soldier uniform consisting of a light jacket and pants, supply packs on the hip, suspender straps, a hard hat with a stripe around it, and tall combat boots.
As an Eldian her uniform was different from that of the Marleyans in that the shirt collar has a small badge with the Eldian star instead of a small clip and the hat has a white stripe with the Eldian star on it instead of a pure black stripe.
As is law in Marley, Zofia also wore the Eldian armband as all her family and ancestors residing there do as well.
Personality
Zofia was not easily startled, showing little reaction to most things and often handling the less desirable situations with sarcasm. While she was not generally fearful or overly friendly, she did care for her comrades as she cleaned the wounds of fellow candidate Falco Grice when he came back injured and delirious from battle.
When her comrade Udo began to panic at the thought of their military failing, Zofia only laughed as he loses his cool and wraps Falco's bandage too tight. During the discussion of qualifications for the candidacy of the Armored Titan power, Zofia boasted about her superiority in grades against Gabi Braun, showing confidence.[3]
Story
Marley arc

During the Marleyan war with the Mid-East Allied Forces, Zofia is present among 800+ other Eldians fighting on behalf of Marley. However, she and some of her friends such as Udo, Falco, and Gabi are valued as Warrior candidates with the potential to inherit the Armored Titan power.
When Falco is brought back to the hiding trench by his brother Colt, Zofia and the other Warrior candidates rush to his aid and begin treating his injuries and bandaging his wounds. During this time, Udo begins to panic in fear of their military failing and wraps Falco's bandages too tightly causing Gabi to scold him as Zofia smiles at their comical behavior.
Falco wonders aloud why they are on the front lines as candidates and Gabi claims it is so they can be evaluated for their qualifications for the Armored Titan power. Udo and Zofia then boast about their superior grades above Gabi, who in turn expresses her resolve to kill the people of Paradis Island. As Zofia and Udo continue to treat him, Falco asks Gabi about the item she is fiddling with and she grins as she shows it to all of them.[4]
When Gabi offers to take out the enemies anti-Titan artillery solo, Zofia watches her execute her plan of attack. Once she is successful in derailing the train, she begins to flee only to be shot at by one final surviving gunman. This pushes Falco over the edge and he jumps out of the trench to try to save her as Zofia and the other Warriors watch in suspense. However, an ally named Galliard transforms into a Titan and shields Gabi from gunfire while she and Falco collide as they both dive for the ditch. Zofia and the others then watch as Galliard races off and kills the last gunmen.[5]
After the battle, Zofia and the rest of the candidates are seen in Fort Slava's harbor, watching as Mid-East soldiers are placed on ships to return to their home countries. She is later seen at the party being held in Gabi's honor.[6] Upon arriving home at Liberio, Zofia reunites with her family.[7]
When the Warriors and Warrior candidates are summoned to their headquarters, Zofia joins Udo in complaining at how little time they had to rest after the battle at Fort Slava.[8]

Zofia congratulates Falco after the latter beat Gabi at racing. As the candidates go back to the internment zone, Udo tells the soldiers about Falco's victory, and she remarks that he only won at sprinting and giggles when Falco expresses his feelings for Gabi. Later, she watches with Gabi and Udo the preparations for the festival and comments on the upcoming events. Calling Gabi a devil, she is choked by the latter, who was upset at Zofia cheering for Falco earlier.[9]
Along with her friends, she works as a waitress at the party for the ambassadors who came to Liberio. The following day she is seen enjoying the festival with her friends and Reiner, then joins the other Warriors to attend to Willy Tybur's speech.[10] As the play on stage begins, trumpets start blaring and Zofia is annoyed by the noise.[11] She, along with her fellow Warrior candidates are stunned when Willy reveals the truth about the Great Titan War having been put to an end by the 145th King, Karl Fritz.[12]
When Eren Yeager suddenly transforms into the Attack Titan behind the stage, detonating the house he was currently hiding in, debris from the broken house is hurled into the audience. A boulder smashes into Zofia and buries most of her body, with only her legs sticking out from underneath the boulder.[13]
Relationships
- Falco Grice - As a fellow Warrior candidate for the Armored Titan power, Zofia shared a unique bond with Falco, as she did all her other candidates. While she was not overly sympathetic, she did care enough to help treat his wounds when he was brought back from battle injured.[14]
- Gabi Braun - Another fellow candidate, Zofia and Gabi worked closely in the battlefield and both tended to the wounds of Falco.[14] Zofia showed little concern or worry for Gabi's safety when she risked her life to take out the anti-Titan artillery,[15] and she boasted to Gabi about her superior grades, being the only one among their circle to challenge whether or not Gabi was the most outstanding candidate among them.[16] Gabi was also distraught at Zofia being crushed to death by a boulder and left speechless at the sight of her dead friend.[13]
- Udo - As candidates, they worked well together in the midst of war, but showed very little interaction with one another as Zofia was not extremely chatty. She found amusement rather than anger in Udo's panic about potential failure[14] and seemed to see him as a bit of a nervous wreck and a fool, but showed no blatant disrespect toward him.
